At ZemmourBallet, creation begins long before the performers enter the studio. Nicolas and Marc Zemmour undertake field research shaped by the subject of each work: listening to testimonies, leading movement-based workshops, and building relationships with social, educational and cultural partners.
These encounters are not an extension of the creative process—they are its foundation.
Through Épaissisme, the material gathered is neither illustrated nor simplified. Gesture, speech, music, silence and duration are layered into a choreographic language that preserves the tensions, memories and contradictions of lived experience.
Over the course of a year, this research becomes dramaturgy, then movement, before being fully embodied by the performers. The resulting work is more than a performance: it becomes a living encounter between artists, audiences and the world from which it emerged.
The experience also extends into the visual identity of each creation. Collaborations with artists and designers, including Sans Cravate, translate the Épaissisme vision beyond the stage while preserving its depth and singularity.
